If you are right handed, you will tend to chew your food on your right side. If you are left handed, you will tend to chew your food on your left side.
The owl is the only bird to drop its upper eyelid to blink. All other birds raise their lower eyelids. The verb “cleave” is the only English word with two synonyms which are antonyms of each other: adhere and separate. When you blush, the lining of your stomach also turns red. Switching letters is called spoonerism. For example, saying Par Cark or Chish and Fips instead of Car Park and Fish and Chips. It cost £4.5 million to build the Titanic and 130 million to make a film about it.
If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle; if the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural cause.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift from france, is made of copper and is now green in colour because of oxidation from evaporation of the seawater surrounding it. It has seven spikes to represent the seven continents. The African cicada fly spends 17 years sleeping, then wakes up for two weeks, mates and then dies.
The tradition of brides carrying a bouquet of flowers started with the brides trying to hide their body odor. Some kinds of frogs can be frozen solid then thawed, and continue living Honeybees never sleep * In your lifetime, you would've spent about 6 years of it dreaming. That is more than 2,100 days spent in a different world!
* Five minutes after the end of the dream, half the content is forgotten. After ten minutes, 90% is lost. * Physiologically speaking, researchers found that during dreaming REM sleep, males experience erections and females experience increased vaginal blood flow - no matter what the content of the dream. In fact, "wet dreams" may not necessarily coincide with overtly sexual dream content. * People who are giving up smoking have longer and more intense dreams. * Toddlers do not dream about themselves. They do not appear in their own dreams until the age of 3 or 4. * If you are snoring, then you cannot be dreaming. People who laugh a lot are much healthier than those who don't. Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones, and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds have it best - they laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day
A Boeing 747s wingspan is longer than the Wright brother's first flight.
American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating 1 olive from each salad served in first-class. These are actual quotes captains or attendants have said over the intercom: 1. "As you exit the plane, please make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses." 2. "Folks, we have reached our cruising altitude now, so I am going to switch the seat belt sign off. Feel free to move about as you wish, but please stay inside the plane till we land... it's a bit cold outside, and if you walk on the wings it affects the flight pattern." 3."Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Please place the bag over your own mouth and nose before assisting children or adults acting like children." 4."To operate your seatbelt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seatbelt, and if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised. In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with two small children, decide now which one you love more." The popular myth that a ducks quack doesn't echo has been disproved by Salford University (click here). Perhaps the reason this myth arose was simply because ducks are quiet and dont hang around reflective surfaces! Daisy the Duck was used for this experiment, pictured below.
